Girls bowling came up short in two tournaments
The girls bowling team had a busy weekend as it competed in two tournaments in Bay City.
The Hornets competed in the Bangor John Glenn Holiday tournament on Saturday, Dec. 15, and the Bay City Western tournament Sunday, Dec. 16.
Bangor John Glenn Holiday tournament
The girls started off their tournament hosted by John Glenn on fire, rolling qualifying rounds with teams games of 1,006, 913, and 957.
Following team games, the Hornets had Baker games of 183, 184, 241, and 189 for a total pinfall of 3,673.
Kearsley qualified as the No. 1 seed, as their total pinfall was 500 more pins than the No. 2 seed.
The Hornets then moved into match play, first going against Tawas who qualified as the No. 16 team.
With Baker games of 174 and 159, the team defeated Tawas with ease. Tawas had games of 130 and 114.
Moving into the final eight, Kearsley took on Bay City Western.
The Hornets won the first Baker game 200-175 and Bay City Western won the second Baker 212-176.
The two teams then moved into a tiebreak Baker, and Bay City Western won 200-169.
The team finished fifth overall in the tournament out of 16 teams.

Starting the Bay City Western tournament, each team had to bowl 13 Baker games.
The Hornets bowled seven games over 200, with a high game of 262, totaling 2,710 pins.
For the first round of match play, Kearsley defeated Cadillac.
Moving into the final six, the team drew Lapeer.
Each team won a single Baker game, but Lapeer ended up defeating the Hornets 355-346 in total pinfall.
The Hornets will be back in competition Wednesday, Dec. 19. against Owosso at Colonial Lanes in Flushing. The league match starts at 6 p.m.
