Girls basketball swarms the Raiders

The girls basketball team won its first Metro League game of the season, beating Flushing 55-40 on Wednesday, Dec. 11.

Senior Mackenzie Ramey led the Hornets with 23 points.

Other top scorers were sophomore Saniia Walker with eight points and four assists, junior JaKeira Wash with eight points and six assists, junior Kamryn Palka with eight points, and junior Sydney Walker with three assists and five steals.

The girls were most excited about winning this game because it was the first time any of the players on the team have beaten Flushing.

Saniia Walker liked how the team played.

“It went very well. We came out very aggressive and were hitting all of our shots,” she said. “We got everyone the ball, so points were spread all around.”

The Hornets are 2-0 overall, 1-0 league.

Fenton will visit Kearsley in a league contest Friday, Dec. 14.
