Girls track falls to Swartz Creek, Linden

With three individual victories and one relay victory, freshman Saniaa Walker is on a roll.

Unfortunately, the girls track and field team couldn’t find points from elsewhere, losing to Swartz Creek and Linden with scores of 91-42 and 102-33, respectively.

Walker won the 100 meter with a personal record, the 200 with a personal record, the 400, and was a part of the winning 1600 relay team in a double-dual meet Wednesday, May 9, at Swartz Creek.

Walker’s times were 12.96 seconds,  26.44, and 1:01.08, respectively.

The relay team, consisting of Sanaai Walker, Sydney Walker, Madison Jordan, and Stacia Tipton took the victory with a time of 4:27.73.

The Hornets had three other athletes place in the top three, all in field events.

Junior Mackenzie Ramey placed first in shot put with a throw of 39 feet, 5 inches.

Sophomore Sydney Walker tied for second in high jump between a Dragon and an Eagle with a jump of 4-10, a personal record for Sydney.

Senior Barbara Hawes tossed the discus 80-05, which was good enough for third place.

Kearsley is 2-6 in the Metro League.

The Hornets will compete at the Davison Twilight Invitational on Friday, May 11.
