Gracie Garfi-Sharber, senior, enjoys playing and listening to music.

Senior Gracie Garfi-Sharber is an energetic, outgoing girl.

She has dark curly brown hair and an edgy sense of style.

Her tone of voice is loud and strong.

She’s always humming a melody to herself or playing an instrument.

Garfi-Sharber uses music to comfort herself.

“I love music because it’s what has gotten me through the hardest times in my life,” Garfi-Sharber said. “I use music as therapy because it relaxes me, and I feel happy when I write my own songs.”

Garfi-Sharber had to adjust to a new reality when her parents divorced.

“I was devastated when I learned my parents were going to be separating,” Garfi-Sharber said. “I got through it by writing music and staying positive throughout the situation.”

Garfi-Sharber looks up to artists like Carrie Underwood and Jake Miller for inspiration.

She has built her own collection of instruments.

“I have over five guitars, two keyboards, a drum kit, and several microphones,” Garfi-Sharber said, “along with my own personal recording booth.”

“Gracie is musically inclined,” Stoutenberg said. “I hope she can go further with her talent when she attends college.”

Garfi-Sharber has a 3.2 GPA and plans on attending Mott Community College.

She is unsure of what she wants to do specifically.

“I would love to do something involving music,” Garfi-Sharber said. “I would like to be a composer or possibly a performer.”

Garfi-Sharber wants to improve her skills.

“I plan on continuing to educate myself,” Garfi-Sharber said. “I’d like to learn new techniques and improve my writing style.”

Garfi-Sharber is a visual learner.

“Watching other artists helps me with my style,” Garfi-Sharber said. “YouTube has been a tremendous help with this. I watch videos of successful musicians and mimic their techniques.”

Garfi-Sharber said she looks up to her father, Mr. Daniel Garfi-Sharber.

“My dad has been there for me through everything,” Garfi-Sharber said. “He has been the person that has kept me strong through the hardest times.”

Besides playing music, Garfi-Sharber also enjoys hanging out with friends and spending time with her pets.

“My pets are basically my children,” Garfi-Sharber comically said.

Garfi-Sharber also enjoys listening to a variety of music. She said, “Some of my favorite singers are Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande.”

To end the interview, Garfi-Sharber told me her plans for the future.

“My goal is to put out my own demo,” Garfi-Sharber said. “I also plan on spending my time traveling to new places such as Hawaii. It’s been one of my dreams to visit there because of how peaceful and beautiful it looks in pictures.”
