Hockey is victorious against Tri-Valley, Port Huron

United takes the win at Tri-Valley and Port Huron.

United visited Tri-Valley on Wednesday, Feb. 21, and hosted Port Huron on Thursday, Feb. 22, winning both games.

United is comprised of players from Kearsley, Brandon, Holly, and Lake Fenton.

United at Tri-Valley

United won 8-4.

United came out early in the game with a goal by Lake Fenton senior Drew Hobson. Kearsley senior Dru Sweers assisted on the goal.

The Titans scored two goals in the first period to take a 2-1 lead.

United scored two short-handed goals in the second period to regain a one-goal lead.

Sweers and Lake Fenton senior Lochlan Hepburn scored the goals unassisted.

Hepburn opened the third period by extending the United lead with a power-play goal. He was assisted by Holly senior Logan Henry.

Tri-Valley scored two goals to tie the game, but United rolled for the rest of the game.

Sweers scored three goals in the period, one of which was on the power play.

The first goal was assisted by Hobson and Lake Fenton freshman Macgregor Hepburn. The second goal was unassisted and the third was assisted by Henry.

Hobson also scored a power-play goal, assisted by Henry.

Port Huron at United

United outlasted Port Huron 7-1.

Lake Fenton senior Aidan Flick scored a goal to give United an early lead. Kearsley junior Devin Smith and Kearsley freshman Aaron Lubin assisted on the goal.

Lubin’s point was his first since Nov. 29, breaking a 16-game pointless streak.

Macgregor Hepburn pushed the lead to two goals with an even strength goal. Flick and Holly freshman Colby Polutanovich assisted on the goal.

United scored four goals in the second period to take a 6-0 lead over Port Huron.

Polutanovich scored the first goal, assisted by Henry.

Lake Fenton sophomore Brendan Ignash scored his first goal since Dec. 9, his first in 14 games.

Smith and Macgregor Hepburn assisted on the goal.

Sweers scored the third goal of the period. Flick and Hobson assisted on the goal.

Lochlan Hepburn scored the fourth goal, assisted by Lake Fenton senior Alec Copeland.

Hobson scored the only United goal of the third period, assisted by Flick and Sweers.

Port Huron scored its only goal in the game on the power play.

Kearsley junior Tyler Keller was great in net, allowing one goal and posting a .923 save percentage.

United is now 11-10, with one overtime loss.

Sweers remains the team’s offensive weapon with 35 goals and 25 assists.

United will visit Alliance on Saturday, Feb. 24.
