On Monday, May 22, the golf team finished sixth in the Flint Metro League Post-season Jamboree.

The Hornets total score was 375.

Fenton won the jamboree, shooting 337, and Flushing was second with 355.

Senior Connor VanSteenburg and junior Jack Vollmar led the team with scores of 83 and 84, respectively.

Sophomore Tyler Gronauer shot a 55.

After combining the results of the leagues first jamboree with its second, Vollmar made first team All-League, while VanSteenburg earned second team honors.

Vollmar thought his personal performance was good due to the weather conditions. Although, he does wish it would’ve been better.

“I played pretty well given the windy conditions but definitely could’ve played much better,” Vollmar said.

Vollmar also has goals for his senior year of golf.

“Next year my goal is to win the league individually,” Vollmar said, “and I will do that with lots of practice over the summer.”

Gronauer also received an honorable mention All-League honors at the jamboree.

In the final standings, Kearsley finished sixth in the league, while Fenton took home the championship trophy.

The team’s MHSAA Division 2 regional tournament will be at The Emerald, hosted by St. Johns.
