McKay wins two races at Davison Twilight Classic
Junior Ave’r McKay led the Hornets on the track at the Cardinal Twilight Classic Friday, May 13, at Davison.
McKay won two races and scored in one relay, scoring 22 1/4 points for Kearsley.
The girls’ team placed 19th out of 26 other schools, scoring 27 points.
McKays two victories took place in the 200-meter dash and the 400.
She won the 200 with a time of 27.08, and the 400 in 1:00.66.
McKay placed fifth in the 100 dash, sprinting her race in 13.25.
The 1600-relay team included Diane Bond, Emalie Lewis, Madison Jordan, and Aver McKay. The Hornets placed fourth in the relay with a time of 4:33.11.
The 3200-relay team placed sixth. The relay included Emma Bishoff, Diane Bond, Savannah Jones, and Zoe Zaravelis.
The team ran its race in 11:45.35.
In the shot put, sophomore Quashayla Johnson placed sixth. Johnson’s throw was 30 feet, 3 inches.
The boys’ team placed 20th out of 22 other schools, scoring 21 points.
In the 100 dash, senior Matt Parkinson placed second with a time of 11.63, while sophomore Taveon Harris placed fourth with a time of 11.71.
Parkinson also placed sixth in the 110 hurdles with a time of 16.69.
The 800-relay team placed second with a time of 1:31.97. The team included Tre’Ron Griffin, Harris, Parkinson, and Jonathan McKay.
The Hornets’ next meet is home Tuesday, May 17, against Swartz Creek and Brandon.
