Soccer sweeps Southwestern on senior night
The soccer team mercied the Flint Southwestern Academy Knights 8-0 on Wednesday, April 20.
This was the Hornets’ second mercy of the season. The girls’ first mercy came against LakeVille.
Sophomores Emily Diehl and Marysa Gatica scored goals, as did juniors Alexis Kelly and Alexis Allen.
Seniors Haylei Boshaw, Danielle Strickland, Katie Valley, and Megan Livingston also scored goals, resulting in an 8-0 win for Kearsley.
This is the Hornets’ seventh win of the season.
Livingston was proud of the team.
“I was pleased with my teammates performance yesterday,” Livingston said. “The majority of the goals were scored by seniors, so that was cool.”
The game was also senior night when seniors Katie Valley, Strickland, Livingston, Anessia Dell, and Eva Berges were recognized.
Valley held the title of MVP and was thrilled after scoring her first varsity goal.
“The ball went into the goal and I screamed,” Valley said. “Everyone played really well yesterday, and it was an amazing night.”
The Hornets, 7-0 this season, play at Owosso in the K-O Clash Friday, April 22.
