Soccer team wins third straight, starts the season hot
The soccer team defeated the Birch Run Panthers 1-0 on Thursday, April 14.
It was a defensive brawl, tied 0-0 as the teams split for halftime.
The score remained 0-0 until the final five minutes of the game when senior Anessia Dell scored a goal.
Dell was taken back by the Panthers’ technique.
“They were an easy team, but they were aggressive,” Dell said.
She agreed with the defensive choices that her coach, Mr. Damiekco Smith, made.
“The coach’s technique was well shown yesterday as the team came together and used their defensive abilities,” Dell said.
Junior Alexis Kelly was impressed with both team’s performances.
“Both teams put up a good fight,” Kelly said. “We walked out winners for the third time in a row thanks to our coach and his strategy.”
The Hornets (3-0 overall) play next at North Branch at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, April 15.
