The soccer team continued its winning streak Wednesday, April 12, by defeating the Goodrich Martians 1-0.

The score for a majority of the game was 0-0, until junior Lexi Kelly received a penalty kick and made the winning point in the last five minutes of the game.

Kelly was given a penalty kick after she was fouled by a Martian.

“The team went into the game expecting a loss, considering Goodrich was a tied team,” Kelly said.

The Hornets were  impressed, not only with themselves but with their coach as well.

“Our coach’s strategy is working well for the team,” Kelly said.

Freshman Chloe Vollmar was satisfied with her team’s win against the Martians, although this was only her second game of high school soccer.

“We all walked in with poor attitudes and low expectations for the game,” Vollmar said. “But walking off the field with another win was a great feeling.”

The Hornets’ next competition will be Thursday, April 14, at Birch Run. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
