Girls’ bowling stays undefeated in league play

The girls’ bowling team defeated Swartz Creek 27-3 on Wednesday, Dec. 16, at Colonial Lanes in Flushing.

The Hornets won both Baker games, giving them a 10-0 lead.

Kearsley won the first individual game with eight out of the possible nine points, accumulating a team score of 939 to Swartz Creek’s score of 713.

In the second round of individual games, the Hornets won seven out of nine points, with a team score of 869 to Swartz Creek’s 846.

Kearsley won the total pinfall battle 2,163-1,871.

The top bowler of the night was freshman Alexis Roof, who had games of 230 and 171.

Senior Hannah Ploof bowled games of 187 and 202, while sophomore Barbara Hawes rolled a 193 and 178.

Roof feels that she has been prepared for varsity her whole life.

“It  feels natural,” Roof said. “I grew up in the bowling alley, and I have always bowled with older kids.”

The Hornets now stand 3-0 in the Metro League and will face Linden and Clio on Saturday, Dec. 19, at Cherry Hill Lanes in Clarkston.
