The volleyball season started with excitement and nerves. The varsity team gathered for the first practice, eager to improve and bond for the 2025-2026 season. Each of their games brings new challenges and winning points, with moments of laughter, encouragement, and teamwork. As the season goes on, the varsity girls grow closer, sharing highs and lows, both on and off the court. But high school sports seasons always come to an end.
To celebrate the season, the varsity underclassmen gather the senior’s favorite drinks, snacks, things to do, and memories. The seniors find this bittersweet, specifically senior, Vanessa Hood.
“It’s sad because I am leaving my friends, and it’s my last year,” Hood said. “But, I get to be celebrated with all of the other seniors at graduation, and look forward to what I want to pursue in the future.”
Hood’s teammate and fellow senior, Nevaeh Pierce, had a similar view on the upcoming Senior Night.
“I am excited for senior night because it’s a new experience, and an experience to have your last year of high school.” Pierce said. “I’m sad because it is my last season as a Hornet, but happy because it means a new chapter can start.”
Senior Night for volleyball is more than just the final game at home, it’s a celebration of dedication, growth, and teamwork. It is a night to honor the seniors who have put in years of effort, passion, and leadership into the program.
The girls are leaving behind a legacy that will inspire those who follow. As the seniors take the court one last time in the hive, they close one chapter and open another, carrying with them the lessons, friendships, and pride that will last long after the final whistle.
