Calling all cheerleaders!! Competitive season is starting soon, and that should include you!
Competitive cheer consists of 3 rounds or different routines that we complete at every competition. Round 1 is very visual and all about jumps, ripples, and motions. Round 2 is all about everybody looking exactly the same and standing tumbling. You must have 5 skills in this round to be able to get the maximum amount of points. Round 3 is the fan favorite. This is the round with running tumbling and cool stunts.
We get judged on every round that we compete. You start with the maximum amount of points then every time a small mistake happens, points get taken off. The winner of the competition depends on who has the most points after all three rounds.
When freshman, Riley Smith, was asked what she was most excited about for the upcoming competitive cheer season, she said, ¨I am most excited to compete on a high school competition team and to spend the season with my friends.¨
When senior, Taylor Douglas, was asked the same question, she said, ¨I’m excited to cheer my senior season and cheer with all my friends one last time.¨
Competitive season is almost here so don’t miss tryouts November 10th and 11th from 4-6:30 pm at Burg! There’s also a mandatory parent meeting November 7th at 5:00 pm. Don’t miss a great season with a great team. If you’re not interested in competing, please join us at competitions to cheer us on!
