Pop culture is defined as many things to many people. To me, the writer of this column and editor-in-chief at the Eclipse, I see it as something to be discussed and shared. Keeping up with pop culture keeps generations connected and able to relate in different ways.
A perfect example of this is social media. This public zeitgeist is the connection between people, despite age, location, or individual differences. In eras previous, these may have kept people apart, but now? We connect despite—and sometimes because of—our differences.
To start off this year, I’ll introduce myself as your columnist. My name is Peyton Hinman, I am a senior at Kearsley. Pop culture is important to me because of its importance and its general lack of coverage on this site. I want to bring back the era of discussion and relatable topics. Stay on the lookout for the next update, where I’ll cover anything from music, celebrity discourse, a new TikTok trend, or whatever scandal arises.
