As the snow melts and the days grow longer, the anticipation for the upcoming track season at Kearsley High School is palpable. This year, the buzz isn’t just about the athletes hitting the track, but also about the new coaching staff that promises to bring fresh energy and innovative strategies to the team.
Leading the charge is Coach Dan Hewitt, who also is the head Varsity Football coach. Coach Hewitt’s philosophy centers on discipline, hard work, and fostering a team spirit that goes beyond the track. This is Hewitt’s first year coaching Varsity Boys Track at Kearsley High School. “I am excited to be able to continue working with student athletes this spring. I hope that I can help them continue their development as both track athletes and as young adults. I believe we will have a very competitive team this season and I am excited to see how we will perform.” Commented Hewitt.
The athletes themselves are ready to embrace the new season with renewed vigor. Senior, Jack Lillywhite expresses “It’s my senior year and I’m excited to compete with all my friends one last time.” Jack will be going to college at Michigan Tech for track. Senior, Laniyah Kincaid said, “knowing that it’s my senior year and this is my last time running, I’m excited to see what I’m going to do this season and hopefully go to states.” Laniyah has been running track and is excited to have Ramey as her coach.
With a combination of experienced leadership and a dedicated group of athletes, Kearsley High School’s track season is shaping up to be one of the most exciting in recent memory. Fans and students alike are encouraged to come out and support the team as they strive for victory on the track.
