Who do you think of when you think of someone being outgoing and confident? You might have to think about this, but my first thought would have to be Jacob Hager. During our interview he started by saying, “Hi, I’m Jacob Hager. I was born January 2nd, 2007, and I am 18 years old.”
To put Hager into a haze of words is nearly impossible. He is outgoing, loud, and overall a fun guy. This man’s outstanding personality is not even enough to describe him. Hager was born in Beecher, Michigan to his loving parents Tiffany and Eric. He is quite tall, standing around 5 foot and 10 inches tall. Hager always stands tall with the confidence that everyone wishes they had. With his long curly hair and the glasses he wears, he never fails to put a smile or laugh on anyone’s face. Hager has two younger sisters, named Avery and Chloe. He doesn’t talk much about his siblings, but he has a deep love for them.
In an interview I asked Hager what his favorite memory with his siblings was. He responded, “when me and my younger sister both won a bowling state championship on the same day, it created a good memory between us and our teams.”
Hager strives to achieve the most in life, in particular working hard for everything he has, never giving up and never having things handed to him and winning.
Last school year he got the opportunity to go to Puerto Rico on a school trip. He commented “ I got to see the most beautiful landmarks, artifacts and old beautiful architecture.” Something Hager got out of this trip was being exposed to a new culture. Opening his eyes on a new perspective was one thing that really stuck with him after the trip.
If you were to see Jacob anywhere in the world he would definitely be with his best friend Trent Zemore. Students around them would probably describe them as the best duo. Zemore says, “growing up with Jacob has been wild, but he’s always been in my life, and we always have a good time.” Having the same interests their whole life has been tremendously great. Having a friend to have your back every step of the way is a perfect way to live your life. Hager commented, “we have a good time everytime we see each other, regardless of the circumstances.”
Hager is involved in many extra curricular activities. Tennis and bowling have been Jacob’s favorites. The feeling of winning is what he strives for. The competitive part of a sport is something that he is passionate about. Making his way to a win is the key to his happiness. He expressed that he hates to lose and often wins.
His season of tennis comes first in the school year, the confidence and aura he gains from his sports is something that comes easily to him. His coach, Mr. Berkey said, “Jake has been my #2 singles players in back to back seasons. He has been a leader on the tennis court. When he notices one of his teammates is struggling, Jake is always there to encourage them. Jake’s signature win came this past season when he defeated Fenton’s #2 singles players, helping us secure a 5-3 victory; a team victory I will never forget.”
Not many people consider bowling an actual sport, but for Hager it means a lot. Bowling has been Hager’s passion since he was 8 years old. Coming up on his senior season he is striving to keep achieving the most he can. Over his four years of high school their team has gotten two State Championships and they are on a path for their third.
As of right now Hager is unsure of his future plans, but he continues to strive everyday and grow as a better person. As Hager is reaching the end of his high school career his goals remain simple, he plans to go off to college and make the best of his college experience.
Not many people see past the physical aspect of Hager at first glance, for he is a very wise and generous guy. He will never not surprise you. Taking your time to sit down and get to know someone can be so worth your while, you will be amazed at what you find out.
