Currently living in Flint, Michigan, and recently residing in Kentucky, she has embraced every challenge with resilience, turning her diverse experiences into opportunities for growth. During our interview, her warmth and enthusiasm were contagious, especially when she spoke about her passions and friendships. Her radiant smile illuminated the room, reflecting the deep joy she finds in the things and people that matter most to her.
At the heart of Myliyah’s athletic pursuits, is her love for cheerleading. “Cheer isn’t just about the routines, it’s about bringing energy and spirit to everything you do,” she shared, smiling brightly. For her, cheerleading is more than a sport, it’s a platform for self-expression, teamwork, and connection. This passion extends beyond the sidelines, where she embraces the leadership and camaraderie that come with being part of a team.
Another cornerstone of Myliyah’s high school journey is her involvement in JROTC. Inspired by her cousin’s participation, she joined the program and has grown tremendously as a leader and teammate. While she acknowledges the challenges, such as maintaining consistency and meeting physical demands, she cherishes the bonds she has formed along the way. “The most rewarding part has been the relationships I’ve built,” she explained, her face lighting up at the thought of her peers. Beyond her structured activities, Myliyah has a creative side, with acting, serving as one of her favorite outlets. Whether performing on stage or preparing for a role, she cherishes the chance she is given to bring stories to life. Her passion for the arts reflects her dynamic personality and ability to connect with others on an emotional level.
In addition to her busy schedule, Myliyah dedicates herself to making an impact in her community. With over 100 hours of volunteer service at the Boys and Girls Club, she has helped countless children with homework, mentored them, and brought smiles to their faces. “It’s the little moments like helping a child with homework or seeing them smile that make it so rewarding,” she said. This selflessness and kindness exemplifies her commitment to giving back and uplifting others.
Myliyah’s ability to balance her demanding schedule of cheerleading, basketball, tennis, JROTC, acting, and volunteering stems from her greatest strength, problem-solving. “I run into lots of obstacles, and it’s important to be able to overcome these,” she noted confidently. She also values honesty in her friendships, believing it to be the foundation of any stable relationship. Her closest friends describe her as caring, affectionate, and funny, which makes her an invaluable part of any team or community.
