Swimming is a very difficult sport that takes a lot of dedication and perseverance. Swimming uses a lot of different muscles and different techniques. Swimmers are very strong, hardworking, and kind. This is the only sport where your coach tells you not to breathe because it will slow you down. Swimmers are constantly trying to perfect their technique and get stronger to help them improve. Swimming is a low impact sport on the body and can help people in many ways. It is easier on your joints than most sports. It is also a whole body workout and helps with cardiovascular strength. Swimming can also help your mental health because it is very calming.
Swimming is an individual sport but it has a very good team atmosphere. At every swim meet there are always people at the end of the lanes cheering for their team and they celebrate when they have a good race. If someone has a bad race, someone is always there to lift you up. This sport brings many different kinds of people together because anyone can be a swimmer.
The Kearsley girls had an outstanding season this year! They had a lot of wins against the Metro teams. At the Metro meet, Junior, Sarah Chambers, took 7th overall in the 50 freestyle, and 6th overall in the 100 freestyle. They had a lot of other qualifiers such as Sophomore, Taybor Soper, Junior, Emma McCormick, Freshman, Kate Gange, Freshman, Ariannah Horne, Junior, Kaylee Peterson, Junior, Waas Davis, Senior, Amelia Sporman, Senior, Victoria Trobough, and Senior, Jaylee Oliver. The 400 freestyle team also took 4th overall in the Metro, the relay consisted of Amelia Sporman, Waas Davis, Sarah Chambers, and Kaylee Peterson. Also at their Last Chance meet they took first place with many girls receiving medals. They had a very competitive and exciting season!
