Now that we are entering the colder months of the year, stress for students only increases. The workload of school starts to pile up, the stress of exams starts approaching, and it’s too cold to go outside for some sunshine. So, we need to spread sunshine and positivity with each other! Every student is experiencing something different. Freshman may still be adapting to the change of high school from middle school and seniors have the stress of applying for colleges. We should all be trying to spread kindness and bring each other up.
There are so many ways to spread kindness. Ask someone if they need help understanding something from a class better, ask if they want to get lunch together, ask them if they would like a hug! There are so many things that will make someone’s day brighter without real sunshine. “My day without a doubt gets better when someone compliments me.” Expressed Senior Amelia Sporman
Another option is trying to brighten your own day! Take time everyday and prioritize doing something you enjoy. Take a break from your workload and go get a sweet treat, draw, watch your favorite show or listen to your favorite song! “I write in my gratitude journal everyday, it is definitely one of the highlights of my day!” Exclaimed Senior Maggie Martinez.
Not seeing the sun as much can really affect people. So instead of falling into a seasonal depression, take a little time everyday and try to brighten someone’s day or do something you enjoy to brighten your own day, just like the sun!
