It’s Dog Bowl season! Have you ever been to Frankenmuth’s Dog Bowl? Reporters have lots of information about this amazing festival.
Dog Bowl comes to Frankenmuth every year in May. This year it is held from May 24th through May 26th. It is the world’s largest Olympic-style festival for dogs! Starting in 2008, and according to Frankenmuth, “[The] Dog Bowl is a high-energy event that showcases dogs at their best – whether they are running, jumping, diving, or retrieving. With over 25 fun activities, you are sure to find something to do and the entire family will enjoy!”

The Weiner Dog Races, Disc Dogs of Michigan Competition, 50 Yard Big Doggie Fun Run Race, Silly Pet Tricks & Talking/Howling Competition, 25 Yard Small Doggie Fun Run Race, Best Costume Contest, and more!
Reporters asked senior, Emma Fessler, what her favorite part was about going last year. She replied, “I love the pool part of it where they jump as far as they can. I plan on going this year with friends.”
The International Dockdogs competition has always been a fan favorite. Watching the dogs jump as far as they can to retrieve and splash in the water is a fun, competitive event.
Journalists also asked junior, Molly O’Bryan, if she had ever gone to Dog Bowl, and if so what was her favorite part? “I’ve been to the Frankenmuth Dog Bowl and I was picked to kick a soccer ball while a dog was a goalie, it was super fun being a part of the game and playing with all of the dogs!”
Every day, there are also two sessions of hot air balloons by Bavarian Inn, morning and evening. At night there is a nightly Balloon Glow, and on May 26, there is a Zehnder’s Fireworks show.
This festival was made for those who have a strong love for dogs. The Dog Bowl is sure to warm visitors’ hearts and fill their day with lots of competition and excitement leaving them with many memories for themselves and pets.
