Lorenza Cefalo, 17, is a senior at Kearlsey High school who came from Italy and took on the journey of coming to America to join an all American school for the experience and education.
“I have always liked America, I wanted to improve my English and live the American experience which is the dream of all European kids,” explained senior, Cefalo.
Cefalo decided she wanted to make the move to America a year ago, and goes back home in June.
Cefalo is on the KHS Varisty Cheer team and girls swim team. Here is what she had to say when asked about cheer, “yes, I like cheer, and I’m very close with all the girls, they are nice with me, ” vocalized Cefalo.
Cefalo is staying with the Boggs family this year. Senior Ava Boggs told reporters, “I enjoy having another sister, especially with my other sisters off to college!”
This is the Boggs’ family’s fourth year housing a foreign exchange student. Lorenza is currently living with Rebekah Boggs (host mom), Chad Boggs (host dad), Preston Boggs (host brother), and Ava Boggs (host sister).
One of Cefalo’s cons about America was the food, but she is enjoying her experience so far.
Italy to America is a huge change, when asked what a big difference is, Cefalo reported, “I think the school, it’s very different from Italy… [it] offer[s] sports and weekend sports, very different.”
Cefalo then told reporters her goal for the year, “My goal is to improve my English, and I want to create here the amazing friendship.”
Students at KHS have been enjoying their new friendship with Cefalo and are wishing the best for this amazing person, and what she will accomplish!
