Gates pulled after school increase security, make students plan ahead
Students trying to get to their lockers after an extra-curricular activity may find it difficult now that security gates are pulled, blocking hallways.
Mr. Greg Oaks, security manager, begins locking the gates about 40 minutes after school ends.
“All year, every day at 3 o’clock we start getting them pulled,” Oaks said.
For students who stay after school for extra-curricular activities, pulling the gates ensures the safety and security of the students during this time.
However, this makes it harder for them to navigate through the halls after their activities end.
According to Mr. Matt Moore, assistant principal, the new gate policy was put into place due to a series of incidents that have occurred.
Regardless of the inconveniences caused by the gates closing, the policy will be enforced until further notice.
