Flint Institute of Arts celebrates Halloween

Halloween at FIA

On October 29th, the Flint Institute of Arts celebrated the holiday of Halloween with Halloween Happenings and Artful Halloween. The first event was free for everyone to come, while the second was only for people 21 and older.

The Halloween Happenings lasted from 11 to 4 in the afternoon.

They had classrooms where you could decorate trick or treat bags for when you got prizes in the scavenger hunt.

The scavenger hunt was to look for what was missing in paintings.

It also had a place where you could make edible art, as in you could decorate a small cake with frosting.

I was able to attend this event the whole time it was going on. Many people flooded in at noon, some in elaborate costumes, and some in casual clothes.

The Artful Halloween event lasted from 8 to 11 at night. This event had creepy tours, music, and food. It was also an event for only adults.

I decided to ask some seniors in my school if they would go to this event if they were old enough to attend.

After showing them the prices, they all answered similarly.

“I would go if someone paid for my ticket.”

Then I asked senior Jackson Hanson if he would go.

He said,  “It sounds interesting, but that’s way too expensive.”

Finally, I asked senior Remus Pitts if he would go.

“It looks like an incredibly cool thing to go see but, it’s just a bit out of my price range,” Pitts told me.

The tickets for the Artful Halloween cost $75 if you bought in advance, and $100 if you bought them while it was happening.

If that sounds like it’s in your price range you should definitely check it out next year!
