Student Council preps for Homecoming

Student Council preps for Homecoming!

The week of Homecoming can be stressful for everyone, but it’s especially busy for Kearsley’s Student Council.

Supervisor Mr. Whalen and the Student Council are in charge of decorating and preparing the High School for Homecoming!

The Student Council President is especially busy at this time.

Student Council President, Elizabeth Pichey, says she stays after school a lot during this time to help decorate.

Vice-President of the Student Council, Thomas Brewer, keeps advisor Mr. Whalen busy by getting shopping lists prepared for him for the decor for Homecoming.

“I’ve been preparing shopping lists for committees so Whalen can purchase them and make sure we (Student Council,) make homecoming a blast!” Brewer exclaimed.

Brewer also thinks the student body will be happy with the normality of this year’s Homecoming, because the Student Council sure is.

“Homecoming is returning back to normal and are all super excited!” Brewer smiled.

Some members of Student Council work more directly with decorating for Homecoming.

During Student Council meetings members are split into “committees” and are tasked with decorating a certain aspect for Homecoming.

Some students get the honor to run these committees. These students are called “committee heads.”

Committee head, Nicholas MacDonald, is in charge of the gym entrance for Homecoming.

MacDonald says he is trying to give the gym entrance a dungeon vibe to fit the Renaissance theme.

“We have an idea on decorating the doors of the gym dungeon style,” MacDonald smiled.

MacDonald’s committee also plans on making the gym entrance a bit creepy to add to the dungeon feel.

“Were putting out spiders, cobwebs, skulls, skeletons and lanterns,” MacDonald said.

Not only does the council set up the Homecoming dance, but they also take it all down at the end of the night.

Student Council members spend many hours of their free time helping make these school activities a magical experience and they should be appreciated for it.

We should all give a big thanks to all the Student Council members and their advisor because our school would not be what it is now without them!
