Baseball swings back into action
The Hornets varsity baseball team start their season out with a new coaching staff.
The new coaching staff consists of the new head coach Caleb Pyscher and assistant coach Tommy Ruhstorfer. Pyscher has worked up to the position of head varsity coach after last season, coaching the junior varsity baseball team at Kearsley.
“I am feeling great about this season, ” said coach Pyscher, “We’re bringing back a lot of key varsity players from last year like Gavin Malenfant, Clayton Fletcher, Dylan Ruhstorfer, Tommy Taylor, Landon Schwerin, Riley Cole and Dominik DiGenova. We are also adding some new players this year like Donovan Harrington, Brayden Weidenhammer, Caden Saxton and Blake Benner. With all these guys, we’ll have a stronger team.”
The team is excited for their season to start.
“We have been putting in a lot of work in the off season to prepare both ourselves and our younger guys for upper level baseball,” said senior Thomas Taylor, “everyone is really excited to get back in the game.”
This year the team is setting out to work on the mental game of baseball- not getting in their own heads, and staying calm and cool when the pressure is on.
The Kearsley baseball team is striving towards a winning season.
“We as a team need to keep working on our drive to win games and keep getting better,” said senior Gavin Malenfant.
The Hornets first game will be March 24 away against North Branch.
