Boys basketball takes Swartz Creek into overtime

The Hornets took on the Swartz Creek Dragons away, on Friday, Feb. 4.

With a buzzer beater hit by sophmore Da’Kari Neely right before halftime it brought the Hornets up 28 to 22.

All throughout the third quarter, the Hornets were up with a comfortable lead until one minute left in the fourth quarter, where they were leading with a score of 50 to 48.

With 25 seconds left in the game, the Dragons tied up the game 50 to 50. Leading the game into a four minute tie breaker.

In the end, the Dragons pulled out a win with a score of 58 to 54.

Leading the Hornets in score was Neely, with a total of 22 points.

“It felt good to be the leading scorer,” Neely said, “helping my team and focusing on winning is my main priority right now.”

Another leading scorer of the night was senior Tyler Csintyan with 10 points, two of which were the first points scored in overtime.

Both teams were evenly matched and played hard all the way up until the end.

The hornets are looking forward to their next game against the Owosso Trojans at home.
