The Hybrid Hornets are cleaning house and preparing for the upcoming season

This is week three of pre-season preparations for the Hybrid Hornets Robotics Team, and they’re getting geared up for the 2021-2022 season.

Lead mentor Jean Herta recognizes that other local teams are better supported financially and with larger teams, but the Hybrid Hornets have a reputation for being scrappy.

“This team is known for building a robot out of nothing,” Herta said, proudly showing the Faygo bottle and a belt the team has used as robot parts in the past.

The team will find out what their bot is required to do on the game reveal Jan. 8, 2022, so they can really dive into construction and programming until their March competitions, hosted at Kettering University and Mason High School.

The Hybrid Hornets are looking forward to having a regular season, and participating in their regular competitions.

“I miss seeing the other teams,” said Herta.

The’re also ready for another full season, with the ups and downs and emotional times that bring the team closer together.
