Boys soccer stings Linden; ties with Lake Fenton
On Monday, Oct. 4, the Hornets took on the Linden Eagles during the Hornet’s senior night.
The Hornets started off the game strong and sophomore Caden Saxton scored a goal in the first minute.
The Eagles scored a goal later on off a penalty kick. The Hornets fought back though and Saxton kicked in another goal.
After the second half, the score was 2-1.
During intermission, seniors Jack Young, Cy Cooper, Caleb Ghettings, Ethan Bailey, and Colton Gunther were honored for their time with the soccer program.
This would be their last game on their home field, but they have cherished their time play soccer for Kearsley.
Senior Jack Young will miss the friendships he has formed within the soccer program.
“(I will miss) the friendships I’ve made along the way,” said Young. “I won’t be there next year and I’ll miss getting to know the new players.”
During the second half, Saxton made yet another goal, totaling him to three goals for the entirety of the game, and Gunter made his first goal of the entire season.
After a long battle with the Eagles, the Hornets reigned victorious and beat the Eagles in a 4-2 game.
On Wednesday, Oct. 6, the Hornets faced off against the Lake Fenton Blue Devils.
The Hornets tied with the Blue Devils, in a 1-1 game.
The Hornets will compete in districts on Wednesday, Oct. 13, against Carman-Ainsworth.
