Students go back to school- and back to wearing masks
In the first week of school, students were excited to see their peer’s faces as they walked through the halls. Unfortunately, with the newest mask mandate, this excitement quickly diminished.
As COVID-19 cases begin to rise in Michigan, the government is trying to limit the spread of the illness as much as possible. This new mask mandate requires all students in kindergarten through 12th grade to wear masks while in the school. This rule also applies to any indoor events, including indoor sports.
Although students don’t appreciate having to wear the masks again, they do so for a multitude of reasons.
Senior Zach Bellmer thinks that it’s in student’s best interest to wear the masks to keep everyone safe.
“I don’t like having to wear a mask, but I will do what I have to,” says Bellmer.
Senior Dominic Demetriou believes that our government is doing their best with trying to keep people safe by administering this new mandate.
“I think it is what it is,” Demetriou said. “I feel like the government is trying to do what’s best for everyone’s safety, but they still really don’t know what they’re doing, but at least they’re trying.”
