Plant Nanny is an app that promotes drinking water. It was voted the best app of 2013 in the iTunes App Store.

Water makes up 70 percent of our bodies. Drinking water is essential to maintaining a happy and healthy lifestyle.

However, many people do not know how much water to drink on a daily basis. Some people think that the correct way to calculate how much water to drink is to take their body weight and cut it in half, but this is not a very accurate method.

Enter Plant Nanny.

Plant Nanny is an app that gives users a cute and fun reminder to regularly drink water.

Plant Nanny works by giving users the number of ounces they need to drink based on their body weight and amount of exercise they get. It then allows users to pick out, name, and take care of a virtual plant that needs the same amount of water in ounces each day that their owners need.

Every time the user drinks water, Plant Nanny allows them to input how many ounces they drank, and then it waters the plant. The plant will level up and grow each day that the user drinks enough water.

When the user has not inputted any water in awhile, the app will send a notification to their phone saying, “Your plant is thirsty, give it and yourself a cup of water!” When the plant is fully hydrated and healthy, it sings and dances in an adorable fashion.

Plant Nanny was voted the best app of 2013 in the iTunes App Store. It has also been a top ranking app in over 10 countries. Plant Nanny has been downloaded over one million times.

Mrs. Amy Graham, health teacher, thinks the idea behind Plant Nanny is great.

“I personally haven’t used the app, but anything that promotes drinking water for anyone is a good idea,” Graham said. “Especially that it is not only taking care of your own self, but if you don’t drink enough water, then your plant will die. It puts more responsibility on you, and I think it’s a great idea.”
