Mrs. Marsha Davis waves as she leads the 2019 homecoming parade Friday, Oct. 11. She retired from Kearsley in 2011 after decades in the district.

Mrs. Marsha Davis served as grand marshal for Homecoming.

At Friday’s pep assembly and the homecoming football game, Davis was honored for her dedication to Kearsley.

The grand marshal is selected by a team of KHS staff members.

Davis involved herself with Kearsley for many years.

Starting out as part of a cluster at Armstrong Middle School, Davis taught for nearly a decade.

Due to changes in enrollment numbers, she moved to Weston Elementary to teach kindergarten and first grade.

Davis then taught second grade at Dowdall Elementary for six years.

After many years of teaching, Davis served as Kearsley’s K-12 curriculum coordinator, focusing on language arts.

After her role as curriculum coordinator, Davis returned to Dowdall, this time as principal of the school. She also served as Armstong Middle School’s co-principal.

Eventually, Davis gained the role of district curriculum director.

Retiring in 2011, Davis continuously shows her support for the district by filling in as a substitute administrator and attending celebrations or times of mourning for colleagues.

Mr. Kevin Walworth, superintendent, believes that Davis is a great choice for 2019’s grand marshal.

“Marsha Davis is an outstanding candidate,” Walworth said. “I actually had the pleasure to not only have Mrs. Davis as my seventh-grade language arts teacher at Armstrong many years ago but I had the opportunity to work with her for many years as an administrator.

“Mrs. Davis used her strong leadership skills and extensive knowledge of curriculum to lead her buildings as a principal and then led Kearsley as our district curriculum coordinator. Rarely have I worked with anyone as passionate about Kearsley kids and the curriculum we deliver as Marsha Davis.”
