Class of 2019 hauls in community scholarships

Seniors were awarded scholarships from 18 different companies and families in the Kearsley Community.

Each year, 18 companies, families, and contributors to the Kearsley community give graduating seniors scholarships toward their college education.

KHS Honor Society Scholarship

The Kearsley High School Honor Society Scholarship is a $1,000 scholarship for seniors in the National Honor Society that are in good standing and demonstrate the four pillars of NHS.

Stephanie Lane earned the scholarship.

Paul A. Webster Memorial Scholarship

The Paul A. Webster Memorial Scholarship is a scholarship for seniors accepted to UM-Flint that demonstrate need and are committed to higher education.

Winning the scholarship were Briahna Greer and Mariana Arambula.

George Daly College Scholarship

The George Daly College Scholarship is designated for students graduating with a 3.0 GPA or higher planning to attend a four-year college full-time.

Three winners took home the award, including Madison Burroughs, Heather McNeill, and Arambula.

George Daly Vocational/Technical Scholarship

Joshua Gunther won the George Daly Vocational/Technical Scholarship, an honor given to seniors planning to attend a vocational school with a 2.0 GPA or higher.

Pat O’Reilly Hornets Nest Scholarship

The Pat O’Reilly Hornets Nest Scholarship is for students entering into the business, marketing, or career technical field.

Chloe Vollmar accepted the scholarship this year.

Jane and Aubrey Burgtorf Scholarship

The Jane and Aubrey Burgtorf Scholarship is for students that have participated in Kearsley music programs throughout their high school years and are planning to attend college full-time.

Burroughs and Chloe Clarambeau both won the scholarship.

Leo Ruebke Band Scholarship

Burroughs received the Leo Ruebke Band Scholarship, an award for KHS band members planning to attend college full-time.

Michael Lafia Achievement Scholarship

Student athletes who will attend college full-time can earn the Michael Lafia Achievement Scholarship, which went to Josh Bischoff and Arambula.

Patricia Smith Memorial Scholarship

The Patricia Smith Memorial Scholarship is for students who have committed to pursue a career in elementary education.

Lane and Mallory Simms gained the honor.

Van Gilder Family Foundation Scholarship

The Van Gilder Family Foundation Scholarship, given to Autumn Prescott and Greer, is awarded to an ambitious senior that will attend a four-year college full-time.

Student Leadership Scholarship

The Student Leadership Scholarship is for students who have displayed strong leadership throughout their high school career.

Lane won the scholarship.

Boggs Family Academic Scholarship

The Boggs Family Academic Scholarship is for students who will attend Michigan State University or Mott Community College and have a minimum GPA of 3.0.

Burroughs, McNeill, Mickeely Dias, and Emily Jones all earned the scholarship.

Troy Paxton Memorial Scholarship

Kyle Langworthy won the Troy Paxton Memorial Scholarship, intended for a senior who is a varsity bowler with a minimum of a 3.0 GPA.

Coach Jack Pratt Scholarship

Winning the Coach Jack Pratt Scholarship, Eddie Harris was recognized as a student who played on the varsity football team and maintained at least a 2.5 GPA.

Chartwells Scholarship

Arambula obtained the Chartwells Scholarship, an award for students who have attended KHS for four years and plan to attend college full-time.

M. J. Noyce Family Memorial Scholarship

The M. J. Noyce Family Memorial Scholarship is for students pursuing a degree in S.T.E.M. at a four-year university.

Bischoff and Claudia Moore brought home the scholarship.

McKayla Hanson Memorial Scholarship

The McKayla Hanson Memorial Scholarship acknowledged Madison Kreinbrink as a student-athlete and an extremely hard worker.

Charlotte Gail Kathleen Moore Memorial Scholarship

The Charlotte Gail Kathleen Moore Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a senior with a minimum of a 2.5 GPA who plans on attending college full-time. The award went to Vollmar.
