Boys bowling accepts challenge of defending league title

The boys bowling team is back and ready to defend its league title.

Last season, the Hornets won the Metro League championship with a record of 14-2.

After losing four seniors last year, the team needs to fill the spots as best as it can.

The new members of the team include freshman Gage Salgor, juniors Rodney Baltosser and Ethan Burke, and senior Devin Smith.

Senior Kyle Langworthy is one of the key returning players from the 2017-2018 season and thinks the new team has potential.

“The young kids on the team are talented and will set the program up for the future,” Langworthy said. “With the roster we have, I believe we have a very good shot to make a run for a state title.”

Langworthy believes the team needs to focus on its game as a whole instead of what others tell them to do.

“We need to focus more on what we do as a team rather than what those outside the team say about us,” Langworthy said.

The Hornets open their season Saturday, Dec. 1, against Linden at Capitol Bowl in Owosso.
