Senior Caitlyn Link enjoys adventures, creativity.

Senior Caitlyn Link is beautiful inside and out. She can light up a room with her sense of humor and her lively personality whenever she walks in.

She has short brown hair and blue eyes. She is 5 feet, 10 inches tall.

She may seem like any other teen, especially with one of her hobbies — watching Netflix excessively.

A few of her favorites are “Orange is the New Black,” “Riverdale,” and “Wentworth.”

But what makes her different from everyone else is her passion for creativity and art.

Art has always been a part of her life, and she is able to express all the words she can’t physically say through her work.

“Art was there for me when I was going through a hard time trying to find myself and nobody else was,” Link said. “Because I may come off shy, it expresses things I may not be able to communicate.”

She has taken art classes with Ms. Cindy Parker throughout her four years here at KHS.

“Parker is one of the most inspirational people I know,” Link said. “Her creativity and her upbeat personality are an asset to me.”

Link spends some of her time drawing, but her true passion is painting.

“Painting has always run through the family, and I’ve grown up watching my mom (paint),” Link said. “It’s something that is so natural for me, and I can’t imagine giving it up.”

Senior Cierra Farney likes to be around Link.

“She is different from everyone else, and she sticks true to herself,” Farney said. “I wish I could be more like her.”

Another thing she is passionate about is her dog Daisy, who is a 2-year-old brown pit bull.

“We adopted her in August of 2016. She has brought endless amounts of love and support,” Link said. “She is definitely a hoot though.”

Link has her own personal sidekick, because Daisy tags along on all of her daily adventures.

“Wherever I go, Daisy goes. She loves to go on long walks, go to the dog park, and even the beach,” Link said.

Link is extremely passionate about her dog. Daisy gets her own birthday parties, full of family, other dogs, and food.

“She may be a dog, but she is like my little child,” Link said. “She definitely is spoiled.”

If Link isn’t drawing, painting, or spending time with Daisy, she is with her girlfriend, Kearsley alumna Emily Schillman.

Schillman admires Link’s personal growth.

“Caitlyn has grown so much since I met her. She is smart and has a great head on her shoulders,” Schillman said. “I can’t wait to see how far we grow after her high school is over.”

The pair met during Link’s freshman year and has been inseparable ever since.

“She is one of my main supporters, and I wouldn’t have gotten this far without her,” Link said. “She is hilarious and outgoing and is always up for another road trip.”

Link and Schillman tend to take at least one road trip every year to get out of town and see the beauty in the world.

“We actually have another one coming up for Memorial Day weekend, and we are going to West Branch, Michigan, to camp,” Link said.

As for future plans, Link will attend Mott Community College to become an animal trainer or vet tech. While in college, she will major in pre-veterinary studies.

She plans to get her certification from Mott, then in the near future, she will attend a university to advance her education and degree.

Her life goals are to be successful and live in her own home with a lot of dogs.

She lists a few characteristics that she will use and is hopeful for the future.

“To get there I will use hard work, dedication, and the right attitude,” Link said. “Whatever ends up happening, I’m hopeful for the best.”
