Walker wins three events, girls track splits meets
Girls track and field was led by freshman Saniaa Walker, taking first in three events, at a double-dual meet hosted by Fenton on May 2.
Walker finished with a time of 13.04 seconds in the 100-meter dash, sprinting a personal record, 27.61 in the 200, and 1:04.32 in the 400.
The Hornets split the meet, beating Holly 74-56 and losing to the Tigers 87-48.
Sophomore Ava Kelsey placed second in the 3200 with a time of 16:56.39.
Kearlsey’s 800 relay team finished their race in 1:58.64, taking first.
Four athletes placed in the top three in field events.
Junior Mackenzie Ramey placed first in shot put with a distance of 36 feet, 8 inches with a distance of 7-06 separating her from the second place winner. Junior Mary Wheeler placed third in shot put with a put of 26-02 along with taking first in discus with a toss of 81-07.
Two sophomores placed in high jump. Sydney Walker won the event and Jakeira Wash was second. Each cleared a height of 4-04.
Kearsley will appear Friday, May 4, at the Goodrich Invitational.
