Tennis falls to Holly, defeats Fenton
The tennis team lost its match 8-0 to the Holly on Wednesday, April 18.
All singles and doubles team lost their matches.
No. 4 singles player, Brooke Mannor, senior, was the highest scoring team member, earning two points in her second set.
Though Mannor had the highest score for the Hornets, she fell 6-0, 6-2.
The first three singles players: No. 1 Stephanie Lane, No.2 Claudia Moore, and No. 3 Chloe Clarambeau all lost 6-0, 6-0.
The doubles teams didn’t have much luck either.
No. 1 doubles Brooklyn Smith, junior, and Hannah Hendley, senior, lost both sets 6-0, 6-0.
The scores were the same for No. 2 doubles Mickeely Dias and Emily Jones, both juniors, 6-0, 6-0.
The No. 3 doubles team of Mallory Teed, senior, and Briahna Greer, junior, as well as the No.4 team of juniors Ariel Desjardins and Ellena Dye each earned one point.
Fenton
The Hornets earned their first Metro League win of the season against Fenton on Thursday, April 19.
Kearsley defeated the Tigers 6-2.
Lane, Clarambeau, and Mannor led the singles team.
Lane won both sets 6-2, 6-3 and Clarambeau smashed both sets 6-1, 6-1.
Mannor didn’t start off well, losing her first set 6-4. But Mannor wouldn’t let up, winning her second 6-1, which caused the No. 4 doubles team to go into a third set.
Mannor won the match by defeating her opponent in the third set 6-4.
For the doubles teams, No. 2, No. 3, and No. 4 won their matches for the teams.
Dias and Jones won each set 6-2, 6-3. Teed and Greer won both sets as well, 6-2, 6-2. Desjardins and Dye won 6-3, 6-1.
The Hornets will play again Thursday, April 20, at home against Southwestern at 4 p.m.
