Girls track places fourth in Harry Burnet Relays
The girls track team competed in Kearsley’s Harry Burnet Relays, taking four first-place finishes, on Wednesday, April 11.
Coach Mike Simms saw some bright spots from the Hornets.
“We had some very good individual performances and some areas where we, hopefully, learned that we need to train to improve and get to where we want to be,” Simms said.
In the large school division, Carman-Ainsworth took first place in the relay with 94 points.
Following close behind was Swartz Creek with 90 points, taking second place.
Lapeer placed third at 80 points, and the Hornets took fourth with 73 points.
Simms said the poor weather this spring has not allowed the athletes to practice proficiently.
“With the (inclement) weather we have had this season so far, we did decent in the field events,” Simms said. “We just need to get better on the track.”
