NHS will package food for hungry children
This year, the National Honor Society officers, with their adviser, chose Kids Against Hunger for their service project.
Each year, NHS adopts an organization to help.
Mrs. Colleen Grathoff, NHS adviser, researched the organization and contacted the local representative to set up a date and time to package the food.
Usually, NHS organizes a drive and donates money to the chosen foundation, but this year is different.
Instead of NHS buying the food to be packaged and donating a large check, it is going to purchase the food, package it, and then donate it to the organization.
Senior Lillie Campeau will be a volunteer this year, helping to package 10,000 bags of food.
She said she hopes to get good karma out of helping pack the food, especially since it taking place on Friday the 13th.
NHS members will package the food after school Feb. 13. The event is mandatory for all NHS members to attend.
Grathoff said she believes the event will go “smashingly.”
