Valentine’s Day reminds us single people how much it sucks to be alone.

Feb. 14 is the day where the hallways are filled with heart shaped balloons, teddy bears, and boxes of chocolate. Couples publicly display their affection toward each other, kissing and holding hands.

Valentine’s Day is the day when your ears will be filled with “I love you,” “My babe is the best,” and, “Look what he got me.”

If you have recently gotten out of a relationship or have always been single, Valentine’s Day, overall, makes you want to throw up on anything heart shaped.

Since popping everyone’s balloons and telling them that their love is going to end is wrong, you will need to calm yourself and do things that are less harmful.

Why should single people have to be sad on this day? Why is Valentine’s against people who enjoy themselves and love to be single?

Here are some ideas for single people on Valentine’s Day.

1.) Go see a movie.

Many new movies are coming out in February that will be perfect distractions.

For an action, science-fiction movie, go see “Jupiter Ascending.”

For a fantasy adventure movie go see “The Seventh Son.”

If there is no hope of being in a relationship, embrace your inner child with “SpongeBob: SpongeBob Out of Water.”

2.) Eat a sundae.

Who says nobody can indulge on creamy, sweet ice cream? Get your favorite ice cream, hot fudge, caramel, peanuts, gummy worms, sprinkles, or anything to make the best ice cream sundae ever.

3.) Catch up on sleep.

While everyone is frantically changing into tight, uncomfortable dresses and suits, lay in bed, put on some comfy clothes, and sleep.

4.) Be crafty and make things.

Make a melted crayon picture, a string heart, fairy jars, or anything else the heart desires.

5.) Make a list: Why being single is fun.

Valentine’s Day makes someone feel even more lonely.

Being single and sad is not fun at all, so, make a list of why being single is fun. There are no remembering of anniversaries, birthdays, and date nights.

Also, make a list on how awesome you are as an individual. Not being in a relationship does not make someone weird, it makes them independent.

6.) Hangout with single friends.

Gather with all of your single friends, get a bunch of junk food and some movies, and have a party.

7.) Buy day-after-Valentine’s-Day candy.

The day after Valentine’s Day, many stores will have their candy marked down, which is perfect for all the single people who want to eat their loneliness and feelings away in chocolate.
