Cheer takes first, honors seniors
The cheer team took first place on Saturday, Feb. 3, in their home school, where they hosted the Hornet Invitational.
Senior Jada Brown thinks they handled their mishaps wisely, pulling through with a well-deserved win.
“I think the team did really well on Saturday,” Brown said. “We had some things that could have set us back, but we pulled together and gave it all we could.”
The team earned a total of 224.40 points during round one, 212.90 points during round two, and 301.60 points during round three.
The team earned a grand total of 738.90 points.
Swartz Creek followed closely behind, taking second place with a total of 735.56 points.
Clio took third place with 701.38 points.
Senior Madison Jordan was happy with the results.
“It was exciting to win first place in our home gym with all our fans who came to watch,” Jordan said.
The team celebrated the win on senior night, dedicating its victory to all of its girls who will be leaving high school behind this year.
The team has a total of six seniors this season: Jada Brown, Kaylee Hill, Madison Jordan, Kennedy Lints, Hayley Roush, and Amanda VanOoteghem.
The team’s next competition is a league competition that will take place at home on Wednesday, Feb. 7.
