Senior Barbara Hawes rolled a perfect game at Richfield Bowl on Sunday, Jan. 14, to help lead the girls bowling team to a tournament victory.
Everyone craves perfection, whether it’s in sports, appearance, or work. We all try our best to be perfect in the world.
Well, senior Barbara Hawes beat us to it when she rolled her first 300 game in the ninth annual Metro Conference Championship Tournament.
“I’ve had a lot of close calls,” Hawes said, “so I wasn’t super nervous about it.”
The girls bowling team took first place at Richfield Bowl on Sunday, Jan 14, during the tournament hosted by Kearsley.
The Hornets snatched the competition from the beginning with a 1,008 team game and took the lead for the rest of the day.
Hawes, at 300, and sophomore Imari Blond, at 254, were the top bowlers, assisting in a 1,051 actual team game. The Hornets qualified first by 319 pins.
Hawes said she and her teammates joke about how she normally carries often, but was struggling this match.
She said was satisfied once she hit the 300 mark.
“I was like, ‘Finally,’ because my last shot was probably the worst I threw all day,” Hawes said. “Actually, the first thing I said was, ‘I finally got my carry back.'”
The tournament, which is open to Metro League teams as well as those outside of the league, took top spot. Swartz Creek placed second, Davison was third, and Saginaw Heritage finished fourth.
