Cheer takes third at first jamboree

The cheer team performs at the first league jamboree of the season at Fenton. The Hornets placed third at the Jan. 10 competition.

The cheer team took third place at the Flint Metro League Jamboree 1 on Wednesday Jan. 10.

The competition was hosted by Fenton High School.

The team earned 217.80 points during round one, 210.58 during round two, and 281.80 during round three.

The Hornets were also assessed an 8-point penalty, making their final score 702.18 points.

Coach Brooke Sharrard was pleased with the team’s accomplishments.

“I am very proud of them,” Sharrard said. “We really came over adversity this week after having to change all of our rounds due to illnesses and having an athlete quit.”

Swartz Creek took first place with 707.70 points and Fenton took second place with 705. 36 points.
