Boys basketball loses league game to Fenton

The boys basketball team faced the Fenton Tigers at home on Friday, Dec. 15.

The Hornets lost 65-60, but picked it up in the second half after being down by double figures in the first half.

The top scorers were seniors Taveon Harris and Jack Vollmar and junior Saifullah Dawan.

Harris scored 21 points, Vollmar scored 16, and Dawan scored 14.

Nine of Vollmar’s points came from the 3-point line, with him scoring on all three attempts.

Harris also contributed to the team’s overall score with a total of six assists.

Senior Kyle Palka led the team in blocks, blocking a Tiger from scoring seven times during the game.

Palka and Vollmar snatched up the most rebounds for their team. Palka grabbed four, while Vollmar had seven.

Coach Paul Adas believes his team picked it up in the second half, but it wasn’t enough to get the win.

“We did battle back in the second half and had the opportunity to tie or take the lead in the fourth quarter on two possessions,” Adas said.

The Hornets, who are 1-2 overall and 0-2 in the league, appear next on Tuesday, Dec. 19, at Holly. The game is set for 7 p.m.
