“Can I get you a drink or a snack?” senior Kyle Menger asked before I could ask him my first question.

As I began to converse with Menger, it became evident to me that he had a nurturing personality.

He continuously asked if I was comfortable throughout the interview.

Menger always tries to put his friends before himself.

Senior Carlos Contreras has been a friend of Menger’s since age 13.

“Kyle’s a genuine person. He puts his friends first,” Contreras said. “He’s been there for me when I had nobody else.”

Senior Tre’Ron Griffin has been best friends with Menger since age 12.

“Kyle is a natural leader who always knows what to do. Some of his best qualities are his loyalty, honesty, and kindness,” Griffin said.

Menger cares for everyone, not just his friends.

“I always try to put others before me. The reason why I like to do it is because I’m trying to be the person that I needed growing up,” Menger said. “So as long as I can do that, I always will.”

Menger treats others the way he wants to be treated.

“I don’t like watching other people struggle and feel alone. I know how that feels, and I don’t want anyone else to feel the same,” Menger said.

Menger has a gorgeous smile, curly dirty blond hair, and an inviting sense of style — one of his favorite stores is Buckle.

Menger said his mom is the best person he knows.

“My mom does so much for so many people. She never expects anything in return, yet she deserves the world,” Menger said. “She told me that I have to do good with my future because she wants to know she raised me and my sister right. She wants to know that she did more with her life through me.”

Menger has a 3.5 GPA and plans to study laboratory science at Eastern Michigan University.

His dream job is to be an FBI agent where he would work undercover for the bureau.

Menger participates in track and cross country.

“Even though I don’t do it enough, I love running,” he said. “It makes me feel like a better version of me.”

He also enjoys learning and spending time with family

“I’m always trying to take more in and improve myself,” Menger said. “I also love spending time with my brother and watching him grow. I love being a part of his life.”

Menger listens to a variety of music.

“I listen to a lot of Eminem. I also listen to some Fall Out Boy, Imagine Dragons, and Big Sean,” Menger said.

To end the interview, Menger told me how he manages to get through his struggles.

His response: “I get through by looking back. There’s been so many times that I’ve thought it was like the end of the world. But I always get through. I have to.”
