Three seniors share their most prized possessions
We all have things that make us smile, some more than others.
Looking at other people’s collections can be interesting and nostalgic.
Here is what three students have acquired over the years.
Senior Madi Van Hamlin
Van Hamlin has a collection of bowling balls.
Her collection consists of over eight balls, ranging from different sizes and models.
“I started bowling when I was 3 but started collecting when I was 7,” Van Hamlin said.
As Van Hamlin’s love for bowling grew, so did her collection.
“Bowling makes me happy,” Van Hamlin said. “It’s a thing that I’ve always done my whole life and it’s a part of who I am.”
Van Hamlin plans to continue her collection as long as she continues to bowl.
Senior Jawan Peat
Peat spent his youth collecting wrestling cards.
His collection contains over 70 cards.
“I keep my cards in a binder, and they are all organized in a neat manner in their card slots,” Peat said.
Peat thought his collection might be worth money.
“At age 13 I was really into wrestling, and I wanted to save the cards so I could sell them for money in the future.”
Peat does not plan to continue his collection, as his interest in wrestling has faded.
Senior Gracie Garfi-Sharber
Garfi-Sharber has built a collection of guitars.
She received her first guitar when she was a child.
As Garfi-Sharber grew up, her love for music became even stronger, and she continued to build her collection.
“My cousin inspired me to start playing guitar,” Garfi-Sharber said. “When I saw how good he could play, I wanted to be that good myself.”
Garfi-Sharber has over five guitars, which include brands such as Fender.
“Music is a big part of me. It’s what keeps me going when I am down,” Garfi-Sharber said. “I plan to continue playing guitar and adding on to my collection forever.”
