The girls basketball team faced off with Powers Catholic on Tuesday, Nov. 28, at Powers Catholic High School.

The Hornets beat Powers Catholic 61-29.

Sophomore JaKeira Wash scored 12 points, making her the team’s top scorer.

Also on the list of the team’s high scorers were juniors Mackenzie Ramey with nine points and Zaria Mitchner with eight points.

Junior Zaria Mitchner has high hopes for the season.

“We did great (last night). We really worked really hard to get that win,” Mitchner said. “We have so much more to show throughout this season.”

The team’s next game is Thursday, Nov. 30, at Goodrich High School. Tipoff is at 7 p.m.
