Fall in love with these autumn, winter trends
Besides the obvious items girls have in their closets for fall and winter, like cozy sweaters, long-knitted socks, and knee-high boots, there might be a few other items they haven’t thought of for the days ahead that will have dropping temperatures.
Pea coats
For a classy, more winter look, pea coats are it.
Pea coats are just a dressy winter coat. They come in all different styles — most have buttons, others might just have pockets, and they can be long, medium, or short.
These coats come in many different colors, so it’s easy to find one that suits your style.
I’ve seen styles like a simple black dress and black tights and over the knee boots, but I’ve also seen white sweaters and jeans layered with a large scarf for a more casual look.
There’s always a way to dress it up or dress it down, but no matter which way you go, you’ll still be nice and cozy.
You can get yourself a good quality pea coat at stores like Old Navy, JCPenney, Macy’s, and Kohls.
Stripes
Literally anything with stripes.
It’s such a simple pattern that you can dress up or wear down. I like the look of denim with a black and white horizontal striped shirt and a vest for a more casual appearance.
For a more dressy look, I really like high-waisted, striped pants. If I actually had somewhere special to go, I would pair those statement pants with a simple satin camisole or a cropped sweater if it’s chillier.
When the weather is really chilly, I find the idea of a lightly patterned shirt layered under a sweater so chic and cozy.
Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Klein are great stores to shop for these looks if you’re willing to splurge, but if you’re on a budget JCPenny is a great alternative.
Velvet and suede
These textures will also keep you stylish this fall.
Suede shoes and suede jackets can really shake up your look.
I feel that suede can be paired with anything your heart desires. Plus they come in all different shapes and sizes. You can show off this style with sandals, flats, boots, pumps, and booties, whichever style suits you the best.
I like suede shoes or jackets paired with black pants or jeans and a simple top, with a couple of jeweled accents.
Velvet is another thing that has been making a comeback. There are velvet tops, jackets, shoes, dresses, and even pants.
Velvet is a really nice fashion choice when it comes to the colder weather because it’s a bit heavier than other materials.
I really like the look of a velvet-textured dress with wrap-up sandals or pumps with a choker or just a few bracelets.
I’ve seen these types of materials at stores like Charlotte Russe, Forever 21, PacSun, and JCPenney.
Pointy-toed shoes
Another trend that I really like for the fall is pointy-toed shoes.
I’ve seen pointy-toed flats, pumps, boots, and sandals, and one of those are bound to be comfortable for your feet and life style.
Pointed shoes are a great shoe choice. Not only can they make your legs and feet look good, but they can also dress up any outfit.
I like the idea of pairing a pointy-toed pump with any kind of denim pants, a simple top or sweater, and just a hint of gold-colored jewelry. I think this combination gives a little taste of vintage while still being in style.
But for when the weather gets surprisingly cooler, knee-high tapered toe boots are a good option. Outfits like skinny jeans and a cropped shirt, or a sweater dress and tights, or a T-shirt dress look great with boots like these.
I love to get my shoes from DSW and Macy’s. DSW even has a section online where you can get boots for under $60.
Cold shoulders
A pretty big trend I have been seeing in the halls are long-sleeved sweaters, dresses, and shirts with open shoulders.
In case you haven’t seen these tops in the halls, they’re just regular long-sleeved shirts with the shoulders cut out.
The open-sleeved shirts can go with pretty much anything, like skirts, khakis, denim, or black jeans.
I’ve seen these tops in almost every women’s clothing store. They won’t be hard to find.
Of course, you don’t have to follow these rules. Fashion is about breaking the boundaries and wearing what’s comfortable and stylish to you.
