United hockey is ready for new season, new league
United Hockey is getting ready to start its first season in the Mid-Michigan Hockey Conference.
The team, which went 4-13-1 last season, consists of seven members from Kearsley, one player from Brandon, six players from Lake Fenton, and three players from Holly.
Kearsley is represented by juniors Tyler Keller, Landon Kash, Trevor Keller, Dylan Folts, and Gerald Balcer, sophomore Devin Smith, and freshman Aaron Lubin.
Last year’s leading scorer, Lake Fenton senior Aidan Flick, will be returning for the season.
United is a cooperative team with players from Kearsley, Brandon, Holly, and Lake Fenton.
The team will feature four freshman and three sophomores, a considerably young roster.
Mr. Paul Gaudard, athletics director, is happy that the team can be eligible for player honors and awards.
“I’m excited that we’re going to have an opportunity to play for something,” Gaudard said. “I think it’s just exciting to be a part of something new.”
Coach Shawn Larsen and Assistant Coach Jason Bolton will be coaching United this season.
The team only has four defensemen on the roster, with 12 forwards.
Junior Tyler Keller is the team’s only goaltender.
United will suit up for its first game Saturday, Nov. 18, against LakeVille High School.
