Feline companions have been living beside humans since they were believed to be domesticated by the ancient Egyptians.

Since then, cats have been part of many people’s everyday lives.

Cats can be moody, but many people still think they are the sweetest pets one could have, especially those people who celebrate National Cat Day, which is Sunday, Oct. 29.

Senior Gabby Green has three cats. She has two boys, Todd and Captain Butter Scotch Whiskey, and one girl named Marshmallow. She loves her furry friends.

“They’re always there for me, they know when I’m upset and cuddle with me until I’m better,” Green said.

There are many different types of cats: cats with long legs, cats with short legs, fluffy cats, hairless cats, Siamese cats, Persian cats, and the list goes on.

Cats love to pretend that they’re wild animals and bring home dead mice, or maybe live mice if they’re feeling adventurous. This can be frightening or amusing, depending on how you take it.

While some people may hate cats, many love them, here are a few cat owners and why they love cats.

There is no doubt that having a furry friend by your side can definitely brighten your day, even if it’s just for a minute.

Senior Makayla Jackson has nine cats, two adult girls named Bad Kiki, and Miss Mo, and one adult boy named Tom. The other six cats are tiny, little kittens that don’t have names yet.

Jackson loves cats because “they’re good snugglers.”

Cats will always be loved and will always be around for those who love them.

And for those who don’t like cats, those people can sit back and watch funny cat videos. Cats love to jump on things they can’t reach and they’re easily startled, which can be very amusing.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, there are about 94 million such honored animals in America, slightly outnumbering dogs, their supposed rivals.

In addition, tributes to domestic cats are made through some of the $430 million per year spent on pet grooming services, and America’s approximately 9,400 pet and pet supply stores.

There are always homeless kitties at the humane society that would love a nice warm home and a meal every day. With National Cat Day being Sunday, Oct. 29, take it upon yourself to help a kitty in need.
