Harris, Stanley lead track team over the Mustangs

The boys track and field team won its meet 75-61 against Clio at home Wednesday, April 26.

Junior Taveon Harris was the top scorer for the Hornets. He won three events and scored 14.25 points.

Senior Hunter Stanley scored 11.25 also winning three events, while junior Tre’Ron Griffin scored 8.5 points with three victories.

Sophomores Eddie Harris and Dylan Buschur both scored eight points in the throwing events.

Taveon Harris won the 100- and 200-meter dashes, with times of 11.75 and 23.47, respectively.

Junior Tommy Plunkey also placed second in the 100 dash with a time of 12.01.

Griffin finished third in the 200 dash as well, finishing in 23.81.

Griffin and Taveon Harris also went one-two in the 400 dash. Griffin won in 53.01, and Taveon Harris placed second in 54.60.

In the 800 run, freshman Raydoffa Braziel finished second and sophomore Josh Bischoff finished third, with times of 2:15.09 and 2:20.79.

Junior Donald Martin finished his 1600 run in 5:24.88, fast enough to place third.

Stanley and junior Gavin Etson finished first and second, respectively, in the 110 high hurdles and 300 hurdles.

Stanley and Etson finished their 110s in 17.58 and 18.17, respectively, and their 300s in 44.22 and 45.02.

Winning the 800 relay was the team of Griffin, Doman, July, and Plunkey. They finished in 1:34.33.

The 1600 relay team also won. The team consisted of Griffin, Doman, Stanley, and Taveon Harris, they had a time of 3:36.96.

The Hornets swept the throwing events, taking first through fifth in shot put and discus.

Sophomore Eddie Harris placed first in the shot put, throwing 42 feet, 10 inches.

Sophomore Dylan Buschur was second (42-09), followed by freshman Donte Wallace (39-04) to wrap up the scoring.

Buschur won the discus, throwing 115-04, followed Eddie Harris in second (101-00) and junior Marcelis Collins in third (96-02) tom complete the sweep in scoring.

Etson placed second in the high jump, jumping 5-04, while Plunkey placed third, jumping 5-04.

Kearsley is tied for second place in the league at 2-1 along with Flushing and Clio.

Fenton is in first place at 4-0.

The Hornets next meet is Friday, April 28, when Owosso travels to Kearsley to participate in the second annual K-O Clash.
